What Is Wanderling Wild?
A Rebellion
Wanderling Wild is a creative solution to approaching modern challenges by fueling community cohesion centered around families and our roots in the world around us.
The core of this involves the cultivation of the internal wilderness that exists within ourselves and our children. This term refers to the state of impermanence, interconnection and intimacy with our existence in the scope of the wide world. The human experience is wild at all stages, particularly early familyhood.
We were never meant to do this alone.
Roots in the natural world provide a unique and deep foundation for resiliency, capability and confidence.
Roots in the community provide a foundation for progress.
Together, all things are possible.
The 'rebellion' is in the choice to slow down and lean into intentional presence, connection and contribution here. Now.

Where Did Wanderling Wild Come from?
Cheyanne Nichter

Coming 3 generations of residential care for developmentally disabled adults, my passion for care and children has led me: into a degree in Early Childhood Development, internships in advocacy, nannying, teaching Pre-K, and motherhood.
My work in the Santa Cruz Mountain community began in 2022, when I fled domestic abuse and landed in the area with my young son.
My first act of rebellion was venturing into the wilderness of single parenthood without a solid support system to lean on.
The second act was pushing past the prescribed ways to navigate those circumstances and daring to create a reality in which I could do more than honor our need to survive on our own but further honor our need for healing, roots and connection.
The third act was finding a way to accomplish these goals while managing to make a meaningful impact on those around me.
Wanderling Care, was an informal freelance private childcare endeavor which led me into the unique opportunity to hold space for a handful of families over the span of 2 years. I've spent thousands of hours caring for children and families in various environments at various stages of early childhood and in the trenches of family-hood. I have been gifted with an intimate insight of the diversities and universality that exists within this sector. Further, I have glimpsed how coordination and insight can make wonderful things happen.
I am thrilled to have found a way to expand with a natural evolution of my work.
Wanderling Wild is the transition from holding that wild space for families in their homes to creating it within our community.
